Your Shopping List For Autumn Fashion

There is something magical about autumn. Changing leaves, cosy nights, Halloween and bonfire night- what’s not to love? However, autumn also tends to be very bloody cold, wet and the weather in general is more than a little miserable. For this reason, it’s time to update our wardrobes. Here are some new pieces you might need, from both a practical and style point of view.

Scarf, hat and gloves

When the weather starts cooling down, some of the first things you’ll want to reach for is your scarf, hat and gloves. Not only are these practical but they can also look cute too, choose designs that compliment the other items in your wardrobe. In the case of scarves, they can be a good way to bring colour and pattern to an otherwise plain outfit. Since these things can go missing from year to year, if you don’t have decent winter warmers then these are well worth adding to your shopping list. My favourite design for a scarf is a check print!

Boots and coats

Boots and coats tend to last for many years, but if yours are a little worse for wear now then it might be time to treat yourself to some new pieces. If you go with good quality and classic styles, you can wear them for the next few autumn and winters to come. When spring comes back around, put them in storage or to the back of the wardrobe until you need them again.  The coat I am wearing in this image is in fact from Primark and is super comfy.

Statement jewellery

Statement jewellery is a great way to bring interest to an outfit. Because in the autumn many of our outfits tend to be darker colours, a statement necklace, bracelet or a pair of earrings can really liven things up and add interest. You could look into new tragus, helix or septum rings if you have any piercings. Otherwise, pieces that can easily be taken on and off are a fun way to style your outfits when the pretty summer dresses have been retired to the back of the wardrobe. I do love some funky earings, Pretty Little Thing have got some unique earrings in stock that I am IN LOVE with.

Bold lipstick and nail polish

Through the spring and summer, many of us like to opt for pretty pastels and golden glowy looks. But when the days start drawing in and it starts getting colder and darker, it’s all about darker and vampy looks. Reds, purples, browns and even black can look fantastic on the lips and nails- experiment and see what looks good on you. This is a statement look and might not be something you’d considered before, but give it a go and you might be pleasantly surprised! When it comes to lipstick, you might need to play around with other products too to get it right!

An umbrella

Autumn is all about rain, drizzle, more rain and more rain. If you do a lot of walking (for example, to work and back) and are out and about a lot, you need a decent umbrella. It can be worth spending more on one that’s more sturdy and wont turn inside out at the smallest gust of rain! Keep it in your hallway to grab on the way out of the door, or in the boot of your car if you drive. A decent umbrella is a MUST!

My first post of November, I hope you enjoyed reading! What do you think is essential to have in this colder weather?

Love this! I’m all for investing in shoes and coats – I’m on my fourth year of wearing my coat now.

Doc martens were the best pair of shoes I’ve ever brought! xx

I love big blanket scarves and bold lipstick. There’s something so cosy about this time of year. I recently got a new burgundy faux shearling jacket and I can’t wait to wear it x
