“Sometimes ‘Self Care’ is a bubble bath” – 5 Independent Bath companies you need to try!

This blog post is in response to the tweets and to everyone that says “self care isn’t a bubble bath or a bath bomb” and that you need to look after yourself in more important ways. Whilst it is so important to look after yourself more seriously. Sometimes self care IS getting in a bath after a long day.

For me, getting in a bath is such a relaxing thing to do when I am stressed, feeling down, overwhelmed, or anxious. So to me, baths are so important and I am going to share with you some of my favouriteIndependent Bath Companies” in this post that you need to try and that will make your baths extra special.

Fox and Soap

Fox and Soap are a company that sell Bath and Body products handmade in Manchester, UK. They are Vegan, Cruelty Free, SLS and Paraben Free. Their products very much focus on sweet childhood nostalgic scents such as the “Refresher” scent. But they also do a lot of floral and fruity scents too. I first came across Fox and Soap on Instagram and very quickly fell in love with the company before I even smelled/tried any of their products. What caught my attention was their “Bubble Waffles” as this was the first time seeing a bath bomb in this design. I know a lot of other bath companies also do waffle bombs too! So the product I am reviewing is the Mistress Bubble Waffle.

I was pleasantly surprised with the size of this product. It is a great value for money. If you are a Comforter fan then you will love the smell of Mistress as it smells exactly like it! A lovely strong Blackcurrant and Bergamot scent. This was one of those bath bombs that you can actually smell whilst you are in the bath. I am not sure if this smell lingered on your skin once out the bath because I use so many different products I wouldn’t be able to tell. But it definitely sticks to your skin whilst you are in the bath. Mistress is so so pretty, the waffle is topped with Cocoa butter drizzle which moisturises you, leaving your skin so soft and the water so silky.  This bomb foams and bubbles as it fizzes, so mesmerising to watch as the water turns a deep pink/purple. Lustier runs throughout the water and red candy hearts float around. The perfect sweet fruity treat.

Lavana Botanicals

I came across Lavana Botanicals on Instagram. They are a company that sell natural and handmade bath bombs and cosmetics handmade in Berkshire, UK. They use a lot of essential oil blends and natural ingredients to create the most luxurious SLS, Vegan and Cruelty Free products whilst also focusing on aromatherapy. What caught my attention in particular was their bombs and their unique look. As you can see from the images these bombs have been hand painted on with paint. I love the unique and appealing look the brush strokes give these bombs. Speaking of appealing, for all you ASMR lovers, if you check out their Instagram, Verity sometimes uploads videos of herself painting brush strokes on the bombs and they are super relaxing to watch.

One of the bombs I have recently tried is the Raspberry Buterball. This bomb smelled AMAZING. I love the smell of raspberries anyway, real fresh ones and this bomb smelled exactly like that. It was like you had grabbed a handful of raspberries and put them directly to your nose. This is what I love about Lavana’s products and what makes them so unique-they smell so NATURAL. The Shea Butter in this product made the water AND your skin feel SO silky and soft. You can see the Shea Butter fizz out of the bomb as it turns your bath water a deep pink.  Lavana also sell Eco-Friendly Wax Air Fresheners that I am yet to try! Make sure to follow their socials and keep an eye out for the Special Christmas Natural Beauty Gift Box Soon!

Lather Cute Soap are ANOTHER company I came across on Instagram (you can tell I love insta) and what caught my attention was their extremely cute unique soaps. They are Glycerin Soaps made in the UK, Paraben Free, Cruelty Free and Vegan. A lot of the soaps are very children-friendly. As you can see from the picture above, a lot of their soaps contain cute toy characters inside. What I have noticed about my soap and others on their website is that they do not contain any fragrance which means they do not have a smell. Meaning that this soap is great for children with sensitive skin! This also means that you and your family won’t be able to disagree over the smell!

I have got the “Pink Glitz” Soap and it is currently living in my bathroomIt is simple yet pretty. It lathers SO well and I know that it is going to last a while. Something I have noticed with other soaps is that they start to “mush” when they get too wet. I haven’t noticed that with this soap at all, after multiple uses it is still a solid form in its original shape. I honestly think these are PERFECT for kids, especially getting them to enjoy bath time more. There are so many designs to chose from for boys and girls kids and adults so make sure to check their links below!

Happy Place Cosmetics

This isn’t the first time blogging about Happy Place Cosmetics, you can view my other review here. They have quickly became one of my favourite Independent Bath Companies. Happy Place are Cruelty Free, SLS Free and Vegan. Their products scream bright and colourful with fresh fruity scents. I am a MASSIVE fan of their body scrubs as the smells are also so unique. One of my favourites being “Under Da Sea”.

Every single body scrub I have used from Happy Place Cosmetics has not disappointed and neither does this one. I cannot pinpoint what this scrub smells like myself and it doesn’t describe the smell on the website BUT I will try. It smells very fruity, put melon, cucumber, orange and avocado together and that is what I think it smells like ha! The value for money is amazing. These scrubs last for ages. I love to use them before I shave my legs as they really are a great for exfoliating, the Coconut Sugar and White Can Sugar leaves your skin so soft. The smell also lingers and just look how pretty the design is. The seahorse made a great little soap (even though it took a while for me to use it)!

Bomb Cosmetics

If you are reading this and you haven’t heard of Bomb Cosmetics, where have you been!? I first heard about them over on https://www.blacktulipbeauty.co.uk/ and after reading reviews after reviews I NEEDED to try out their bombs. Whilst I was in Center Parcs I came across them in a shop and purchased about 10 bombs (some for family). So, Bomb Cosmetics are Cruelty Free of course! They are 100% Handmade, use a lot of natural ingredients and use bio-degradable sparkle! The options on their website are endless! Different smells, sizes, colours, shapes and they don’t just sell bombs. You really need to check out their website.

The bomb picture is called “I Believe In Unicorns”. Before I even give this bomb a smell, I knew I was already getting it, just look at it. It is SO pretty, the unicorn, the pink, the confetti. It basically smells like pure sweet cake frosting, the absolute dream. I came out the bath smelling like a SNACK. It turned the water the prettiest light shade of pink and the confetti kind of floated around and kind of floated to the bottom. The white dollop on top of this bomb melts slowly in the bath and leaves your skin smoooooooth. Make sure to check them out!

I agree, self care comes in so many forms, and it CAN be a bubble bath! I didn’t realise that people said that it couldn’t be?! Also, that bubble waffle looks like so much fun, as do the glycerin soaps! Very Instagrammable, like you said!

I totally agree. A long soak in a tub can give you that much needed opportunity to relax, unwind and reflect. It can be incredibly beneficial to your mental health. We all have different ways of looking after ourselves.

Self-care is so important! Bubble baths are great to destress and gather your thoughts. It’s great that you’re combining self-care with independent bath companies. I love that there are different scents and vibes from each bath bomb. I like that they are waffle shaped as well! The lather cute soap doesn’t mess with its cute name. Ooooh! The unicorn bath bomb looks really neat!

I love that too, each product is so unique in its own way! It really doesn’t mess about because their soaps are so bloody cute!! Waffle bombs are great because you can break them and get multiple baths out of them! Thanks Nancy x

Bubble baths are a fabulous way to relax and unwind. I love this post. Fox and Soap look and sound sooooo good anything SLS, Paraben free, Vegan and Cruelty Free is a winner with me. The colours in the products you have featured from there are incred and I need to try these. My go to is normally Lush but these look like they could rival. Thankyou for sharing 🙂 x

Oh man this is such a dangerous post, I’m going to need to buy something from all of these places (including Bomb because why not). Thank you so much for mentioning me hehe! I am such a huge sucker for bath products and I am exactly the same in the fact that a long bath really, really helps me to de-stress and have some me time. I’ve seen Happy Place before and been longing after their products, that waffle looks incredible and I will for SURE be getting myself (or dropping a few hints to my boyfriend) about one, or five… Such a fabulous post!!

That’s okay, if it wasn’t for you I never would have fallen in love with Bomb Cosmetics! Happy Place are really good, all of them are so you need to try all of them haha! Thanks so much Alice xx

  17. September 2, 2018 / 8:29 pm

I’ve never used a bath bomb before, but then I always have showers instead of baths and because I seem to be allergic to anything perfumed or coloured when it comes to soaps and soaks. The only bubble bath product I use on the very rare occasions is Sanctuary Spa as it doesn’t irritate my skin and has a light pleasant smell. But it’s interesting to read about these new products and I agree, sometimes a bath is the self care you need x

      September 18, 2018 / 1:29 pm

LatherCuteSoap is perfect for you then as they do not contain any fragrance but are still a fun bath/shower product to use! I LOVE Sanctuary Spa, it reminds me of when I was a child<3 Thank you!

  18. September 3, 2018 / 8:28 pm

Those bath bombs are so pretty! 🙂

  19. September 6, 2018 / 7:56 am

I would definitely put bath under self-care- I mean they are honestly so relaxing. I feel like it’s one of those things that you would not expect to make a difference but it actually does. I am living the waffle bath bomb, it’s so cute! Definitely need to try it! xx

Such a coincidence that I am reading this just as I am about to have a bubble bath, for self care reasons too. It really is an amazing way to feel more relaxed. I really wish I had one of these bath bombs now – particularly one of the ones from ‘bomb cosmetics’! <3
