If you follow me on social media then you will know that I have recently got a new puppy!! EXCITING. So I thought I would so a little short cute post about her and the experience getting her.
So if you know me then you’ll know that I used to have 2 Staffies called Asha and Beau(see a picture here) and they died a few years ago which for me and my family was absolutely heartbreaking, honestly the worst experience I have ever been through. (I might do a blog post on coping with doggy grief if anyone is interested in this?)
I few years down the line and we finally felt ready to get a new pup. So, I started looking on Pets4Home and puppies pretty much everyday. Me and my family couldn’t decide on which dog to get for AGES but we finally decided on a Boxer dog. So everyone, MEET CODA.
The first time we went to see her, I can remember getting out of the car and I was greeted by the BIGGEST FRIENDLY Boxer Dog. He came up to me tail wagging wanting a fuss. They had 4 friendly Boxer Dogs (only one had had pups and only once before). From that moment I thought “I really want a Boxer”. AND THEN. When I saw all the little puppies in their bed….I couldn’t cope. Coda was the littlest out of them all, we reckon she was the last pup to be born. She had a cone head as you can see in the picture below.
From the first time we went to see her, we had to wait a few weeks before we could actually take her home. During this period we researched Boxer dogs even more and the best ways to look after them, about their personalities etc. We learned that they have difficulties in really hot weather and really cold weather. So during that heatwave, we kept her out of the sun as much as possible. To keep her cool we made sure she had lots of water, during this period, we also figured out she really loved water.
Vets and Walkies
Her first visit with us at the vets went well. They checked her for multiple things and she was fine. But they told us she was a little underweight, so that is when her love for scrambled egg started. Vet check ups after that went well too. When she went to have her last injection, she had an upset tummy so we had to wait until that was better.
Fast forward to a week after she had her last injection, and she finally went on her first walk. She was so curious about everything! At first she didn’t walk far without then freaking out over her lead. But now she walks so well! Sometimes we have to walk in front to encourage her to walk and so she knows it’s okay. She LOVES running in the woods that is her favourite thing to do. Coda is yet to meet a dog but when she sees them on her walk she stops and stares. But she heard big woofs one time and got scared so we had to carry her home. We are hoping to let her meet my boyfriends dog Lola soon!
Chew Chew Chew
If you have had a puppy before, then you know what the “teething” stage is like. They constantly want to chew anything and everything and their teeth are razer sharp! But you don’t want to get annoyed at them because their teeth are just irritating them and chewing helps. There was a time when Coda bit my arm so hard I burst out crying because it hurt so much and she just stood their looking at me like “what have I done wrong” ahahah. PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK.
We have had her for 6 weeks already!!!! She is currently 14 weeks old. She has learned “sit”. She now knows what “din dins” means. She loves egg and chicken. She freaks out or gets excited when someone makes a weird noise, there is no in-between. She wants to chase/attack the mop/brush/hoover every time it is out. She loves it when people come to visit. She is great with kids. Sometimes she gets too excited when someone comes round and wees. She LOVES to chew my hair and my glasses. She likes watching TV. She is honestly the cutest thing ever.
She also pulls the funniest faces EVER. Her is a little collection to show you what I mean.
I hope you have enjoyed meeting my new pup. I am one of those saddos that made an Instagram account for my dog so follow Coda on Instagram for Pupdats!!! @codatheboxer
If you are also a saddo and you have got a account for your dog let me know! Have you ever had a boxer before? What dog do you have? What dog do you want? Let me know in the comments and tell me everything about your fur babies xxx
*As much as we all would like to rescue a dog, that isn’t always the best option, so please no judging. We visited the breeder a few times and the puppies were looked after amazingly. They owned 4 Boxer dogs so they are a lover of Boxers and all paperwork was legit, dogs were healthy, owners were lovely*
