So, I went to one of my all time favourite places with my boyfriend Reece, Center Parcs Sherwood Forest. I used to go all the time when I was younger with my family so it meant so much to be going back here and I had the best time. Here is 10 reasons why you should go to Center Parcs. Click here to watch my holiday video.
You are in the middle of Sherwood Forest, of course the views are going to be amazing, you are literally living in a forest. There are so many beautiful views at Center Parcs thanks to the nature. Bright blue skies in the summer, dark lit up forest in the winter, perfect every single season. One of my favourite views was this lake. There are plenty of pretty ponds and streams but this lake is something else.
2. Subtropical Swimming Paradise
Swimming is hands down one of the best things about Center Parcs Sherwood Forest. The swimming is called “Subtropical Swimming Paradise” and it is, literally, a paradise. It is heated to 29.5C all year round and covered in green tropical plants, rocks and trees. There is so much to do, a Wave Pool, Wild Water Rapids, Outside Pool, Flumes, The Grand Cascade (dingy slide), Jacuzzis, Plunge Pool(very cold), Lane Pool, Bubble Pool, Multiple kids pools for all ages. You could spend all day here, writing about it makes me want to go back so much. The outside pool looks beautiful at night when it is all lit up and the sky is dark. I used an action camera to film some footage whilst swimming, so if you want to see what it is like inside, watch my video!
3. The Village
So The Village Square is where it is all happening, it is where the shops including “The Parc Market” (where you get your groceries) is located, as well as The Subtropical Paradise, restaurants and bars. It is covered with trees and there is a little stream that runs through it which is filled with fish. Whilst I was there, a duck family were living in this stream and it was so cute seeing the ducklings every day.
Center Parcs has lots of restaurants, most of them located in The Village. I am going to talk about my favourite 3 and I am only going to talk about what I had not what Reece had so veggies stay tuned!
Picture 1 : Rajinda Pradesh: The food here was Indian food and it was so nice! I had two different potato dishes and oh my god! They were so good. Everything was from the rice to the naan-bread. The most expensive but 100% worth it. I also had a WATERMELON Mojito…again, amazing.
Picture 2: Sports Cafe: The sports cafe is located in “Jardin Des Sport”. I had a chip and cheese toastie with salt and vinegar crisps, I don’t think I need to say anything else about it. (I had this meal twice in 5 days)
Picture 3: The Pancake House: Full of sweet or savoury pancakes, the perfect breakfast, I had a cookie dough stack of pancakes with chocolate sauce and cream.
There are animals everywhere. You will wake up in the morning to ducks tapping on your patio door, it is honestly the best thing. Squirrels, ducks, birds and rabbits are EVERYWHERE, you will be lucky to see hedgehogs, bats, owls, foxes and deer as most of them come out at night. I am sure there are plenty more animals in this forest. Best memories from this holiday is when me and Reece were in bed and we heard a noise, looked out the window and there were 2 hedgehogs eating some seeds we have left out. We also got followed multiple times by hungry ducks!
Treats is a classic at Center Parcs. It has changed slightly since I last went years and years ago but it still sells the same goodies. ‘Treats’ basically sells sweets, chocolates, lollies, fudge, biscuits, ice cream and more! It is pretty well known for its amazing pic n mix but for me being a veggie, it wasn’t very good. I could have a lot of other things though. There is also a vegan section. Treats is literally, full of treats. If you want to see inside the shop then watch my holiday video.
7. Jardin Des Sport
Jardin Des Sports is french for “Garden Of Sport” and it is full of activities such as Badminton, Tennis and lots others that you can see on the picture. It is also full of pool tables. There is a sports shop, a bar, a sports cafe, bowling alley, play areas, lots and lots of fun things to do. The interior inside is amazing, full of plants. Me and Reece spent Wednesday evening in here watching England loose in the semi final hahaha! 🙁
8. Nature Centre
When I was younger I used to come here in the evening had hold owls and learn all about them, it was really great and that is where my love for owls started. It is a nature centre full of information about lots of different animals and plants. There are really interested things here like a bees nest, a hedgehog nest and things like that. Outside, there is a big lake you can walk around which leads you to a “queit area” where you can sit in a shelter and watch lots of different animals and plants through a window. It is a really calming place to be.
There is the most amazing selection of lodges available for you to choose at Center Parcs from such as Woodland Lodges, Executive Lodges, Waterside Lodges, Honeymoon Lodges and more. Me and Reece stayed in a Woodland Lodge and it was absolutely beautiful. The dream is to stay in one of the Tree Houses which has your own hot tub, game room, sauna and more, and is in fact, a literal tree house. Childhood dream came true! The picture above is of a Tree House.
10. Aqua Sana
I have never been here before but I know the Aqua Sauna at Center Parcs Sherwood Forest offer a wide selection of amazing treatments from massages to spa treatments. You can also book day visits there without booking for a holiday at Center Parcs. Picture is taken from google, make sure to check out the Aqua Sauna website.
So there you have it, 10 reasons why you should go to Center Parcs. I will be updating a “5 activies to do in Center Parcs” blog post soon, as I couldn’t include them in this the post would be way too long!
