🌸I am a Blogger, so what?🌸

IMG_1533

I am a “blogger”. Yes I had to put the word blogger in speech marks, because I still find myself cringing at the thought of calling myself that. I write blog posts on the internet and I have recently just hit 100 followers, so technically, I am a blogger.

But why do I cringe every time I call myself that, or for example, in a lecture why don’t I put my hand up when the lecture asks “has anyone got a blog?”. I know it is not just me who feels like this, I have saw a few bloggers discuss this topic on twitter.

So, why is it that I feel like this about being a blogger? It is probably the connotations that comes with being a “blogger”, I do not want people to think that I am something that I am not. Although, my confidence in blogging has massively improved, there was one point a few months back where I put my Instagram account on private and removed my blog from my bio because I thought people from school/college would laugh at me. People from school who are completely irreverent to my life and probably look at my profile when they are so bored with their own basic lives, so now, I simply do not care what others think.

But of course, there will be days when paranoia and insecurities get the better of me. I recently changed my Instagram account to a business account, so I can now see how many people visit my profile and the number of times the media I created a week has been seen. This number is very large and has totally freaked me out!

I am slowly caring less and less about what people think, and this is because I have realised that I shouldn’t let anyone stop me from doing what I want to do. I like to write about things so I created a blog, so what? <3

Thanks for reading, a pretty short one but I didn’t want to go on for too long.  Can anybody relate to this post? Or have you got any tips on how not to care what others think? I would love to know.

xx

I completely relate to this! Only a couple of people from my \’real\’ life know anything about my blog, even though I\’ve been doing it a couple of months now. It\’s really hard to put yourself out there like that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this xx

Yes! You go, girl! Once you let go of the need to please others with your outward-facing image, it opens up a world of flexibility within your writing. Keep it up and keep creating!

Loved this post, it is by fat the most relatable one I\’ve read all week. I used to hate being called a blogger because not many people where I\’m from support what I do over the years though I developed an idgaf attitude about it though and decided to not let it bother me. Thank you for sharing this post 💕

    • March 8, 2018 / 9:09 pm

Having a idgaf attitude is always the best 🙌🏽 I am glad you can relate, thank you for the lovely comment 💖

    • March 8, 2018 / 9:10 pm

I can relate so much to this wow! I don\’t exactly go around telling everyone about my blog even now, but the more you do it the more confident you become in what you do because at the end of the day IT\’S AMAZING and so much effort goes into every post for a blogger.

    • March 8, 2018 / 9:11 pm

Yes that is so true!! I don’t either and no one really asks questions but I do post it on majority of my social media accounts 🤷🏽‍♀️ thank you so much for reading Morgan xxx

Great post and totally relatable. I have been quite open with people close to me about my blog however have only recently started putting it out there with my wider circle. The response I have had has been fantastic and to be honest I have reached the point that I don’t really mind what others think or say as I love blogging and it makes me happy so if people don’t like it tough!

First, congrats on the growth/growing of you and your blog! 🙂 Yes, it\’s totally relatable. It\’s actually reminded me of a post on beautiful-inspiring-creative-life.com where she tackles some of those connotations. IDK if I\’d share that I had a blog in class either, but I think it helps to see just how many people have blogs with different topics, sizes, and such!

Thank you! And I will give the post a look when I get the chance thanks! And yes that is very true! Thank you for reading

Totally agree with this! Sometimes I hate to call myself s blogger. I remember having coffee before I set mine up and was worried about what people would think. But now I’m so proud of what I achieved and I say creator! Amazing blog and can totally relate. Sophie x

I love this post and I coluldn\’t agree more with what you\’ve just said. It took me such a long time to put \”blogger\” in my bios but now, I just own it!

I\’ve been blogging for over seven years and it took me a loooong time to get comfortable and confident in my blog. For the longest time I would blog under a fake name and hide it from my friends and family, because like you I was scared they would think of me as something I\’m not. This was really thought-provoking, thank you!

    • March 11, 2018 / 10:36 pm

I haven’t been properly blogging for a year yet so I know my confidence will get better and better! Wow 7 years! Well done for keeping it up and thanks so much for reading and commenting!! ❤️

  12. March 11, 2018 / 8:32 pm

Completely relate. When I was a bit younger I had a blog which picked up quite a decent following. But I was embarrassed about it; especially when people asked about it and it was as if they were sneering at me? Now I am much more self assured and I don\’t care what anyone thinks. This is for me and no one can take that away x

    • March 11, 2018 / 10:37 pm

Yeah that’s what I think, if someone asks me about it are they laughing behind my back? Thank you for reading x

  13. March 11, 2018 / 8:43 pm

I could really relate to what you were saying. For the first year of blogging, only my family knew about my blog. This year, a couple of my friends discovered my blog through Instagram. I was so nervous when they started following me but then I realised that if they really cared about me, they wouldn\’t judge me anyway. Thanks so much for writing this post!

    • March 11, 2018 / 10:38 pm

Yes exactly, and if they judged you then you know they aren’t good friends. Thank you so much for reading!!

  14. March 11, 2018 / 8:45 pm

Great post–I used to feel the same way, but then I was like, Damn–I should be proud that I do this. It\’s a lot of work! Embrace your blogness and be proud!

    • March 11, 2018 / 10:38 pm

It is a lot of work!! Thank you!!

  15. March 11, 2018 / 9:30 pm

Hello. I can most definately relate to this post. The part about what people from school/college may think resonates with me. I hope you continue to grow in confidence and not care too much what other people think. I think this mindset comes pretty much with age. This was a lovely post to read and thank you for sharing.

    • March 11, 2018 / 10:40 pm

Yes I think so too! And thank you and thank you for reading!!

I usually feel totally tempted to put quotation marks whenever I type blogger! I\’ve seen a lot of comments in regards to bloggers suggesting that we are nothing but greedy and are on the lookout for freebies etc which definitely puts me off from owning my blogger title. I was so secretive about my blog but over the last two years I have slowly opened up to people in my personal life about it – one person at a time. So far so good! I\’m glad you\’re starting to care less about what others think! We\’re all in this together.
    Best Wishes
    Amy x

Some of the nicest messages I have had about my blog which is now a month old 😂 have been from schoolmates who I haven\’t seen in over 15 years. So glad you are gaining confidence x

Loved this post so much!!!! 💕
\”there was one point a few months back where I put my Instagram account on private and removed my blog from my bio because I thought people from school/college would laugh at me\” i can relate to this part. So much.
I\’ve been in that situation too more than once. And also, i\’ve been blogging since Dec 2016 but i never had the confidence to let my friends/instagram followers know that i have a blog until Last october 2017. I dunno why it took me so long but now i\’m so happy that I no longer feel insecure with what i write on my blog and seeing the positive & supportive comments here are what helps me gain the confidence on blogging. So i\’m very happy to know that you\’re becoming more confident with yourself and caring less with what people think of you. You\’re right, don\’t let anyone stop you from doing things that you wanna do.

    Have a nice day!

it is a great feeling isn\’t it! Being able to express your interests without caring what other people think! thank you! and thanks so much for your comment it was so lovely of you! xx

That\’s amazing! You spend so much time and effort creating your little home on the internet, you should be proud of it! I have to admit in the beginning, I would have been reluctant to raise my hand too but as soon as I got comfortable with my blogging style and content I was sooo much happier to talk about it with erm…everyone…x

I could really relate to this hard today because I finally updated my resume to add some of my blogging background and I stuttered when I said \”I\’m a blogger\” in an interview. But then I remembered, it\’s 2018. One thing I never realized about blogging was how many skills you develop from running a blog. Being multifaceted and obtaining different skillsets is a plus in every industry these days.

Oddly enough when I first started my blog I didn’t feel this way but it’s got worse as time has gone on. I personally prefer the term “blogger” over “influencer” as the latter sounds like you don’t really do a lot, haha! Blogging is a lot of hard work and people really don’t give enough credit for it!
