(pls note that I am not a makeup professional, this is my own opinion and I am comparing to other brands that I have used).
I am going to be reviewing the Zoeva Plaisir Box which contains three shadow palettes called Cocoa Blend, Caramel Melange, and Blanc Fusion. I got this makeup item from Beauty Bay costing £48.00. To buy these eyeshadow palettes separately they are £18 each so you save money buying the Plaisir box! This was my first time using anything by Zoeva and I am very impressed!
Design: 9/10 I am very impressed with the design of the Plaisir box. As you can see from the picture above, the 3 eyeshadow palettes come in a very pretty box so they keep safe. Each palette is designed beautifully and I can’t fault it! The quality of the eyeshadows themselves look and are amazing and I love the names of each individual shade. Each palette reminds me of a chocolate bar. The only fault I have so far with the design is that I wish there was a mirror. I am hoping that the packaging keeps its shape the more I use them.
Longevity: 7/10 I have noticed that some colours last better than others, but overall these eyeshadows last a very long time. I have noticed that I will go out in the evening, be in a club for hours and my eyeshadow will still look fine! This would partly be down to the Urban Decay Primer that I use but overall the longevity of these eyeshadows is good but not the best I have tried.
Pigmentation: 8/10 These eyeshadows are very pigmented but some are more pigmented than others. I have noticed that the really glittery shades seem to stand out more. It can be quite difficult sometimes to make the lighter colours stand out but you just need to use more product than usual. Different products will stand out more depending on your skin tone and the primer that you use(if you use one).
Application: 7/10 These eyeshadows blend very well, the only problem I have is that some of the glitter shades seem to be less glittery when I apply them onto my eyelid, however this could be down to my technique and the brush I am using (if anyone has any recommendations for applying glitter eye shadow let me know in the comments!!). I have also noticed some of the eyeshadow shades have a bit of fallout.
I am now going to review each palette specifically.
Cocoa Blend: This palette as you can see from the bad quality images (sorry all the pictures are not the best) consists of 10 warm-toned colours ranging from beige to copper to purple to cranberry. 5 of these are matte and 5 are shimmer/glitter. I think this palette is great for my skin tone, I have very light brown skin and all of the colours show up. It would look great on lighter and darker skin too as the colours range in tone. My favourite shades are “Pure Ganache” which is the shimmery copper and “substitute for love” which is the matte brown. This palette is great for Summer and Winter and you will be able to do many different looks with this palette. However, I am not a fan of purple or very dark colours myself so some of the shades will get less use than others. This is simply down to the fact that I can’t do “smokey eye” looks and I do not like this look on me. 7/10
Blanc Fusion: This palette consists of 5 matte shades and 5 shimmer/glitter shades. The glitter shades in this palette are very pigmented and range from gold to yellow to browns. These shades are perfect for a dramatic look! The matte shades range from light cool tone browns to darker warm tone browns. On my skin tone, the lighter brows look quite ashy, I am not sure if they would look the same on lighter or darker skin. I am disappointed about this because I use brown eyeshadow a lot. I will keep trying with the light brown shades and see if I can make them work somehow. The first two shades make a brilliant highlight, especially for the inner corner of your eye and underneath your brow bone. My favourite shades from this palette are “Nobel” and “Visions of Gold”. 7/10
Caramel Melange: This palette consists of 10 very warm tone shades. If you thought that Cocoa Blend was warm, this palette is warmer! There are 4 shimmer/glitter shades and 6 matte shades. The colours range from red to orange to beige to brown, this is a very summery palette and my favourite out of the three! I think this looks great on my skin and because the colours are so bright, they will also look great on darker skin. The only problem I have with the palette is the first two shades on the bottom row are pretty similar to each other. My favourites from this palette are “180 c” and “start soft”. 8/10
Thanks for reading, this is my first makeup review so let me know what you think. xx
